Crude Oil Production

Mozambique produces NGL in very limited quantity and has no refinery, therefore, all the oil products supplied are imported (2.2 Mt in 2022 (+20%).

Renewable in % Electricity Production

The Strategy for New and Renewable Energy Development 2011-2025 (PNENR, 2011) aimed at developing renewables for electricity generation. The PNENR determined targets for renewables, including a doubling of the hydropower capacity (to over 4 GW) and the elaboration of potential studies for marine and geothermal energy.

CO2 Fuel Combustion/CO2 Emissions

In its updated NDC (2021), Mozambique targeted a GHG emission reduction target of 10 MtCO2eq in 2025, i.e. around 20% below a BAU projection. The target is conditional on financial assistance and technology transfer.

The National Strategy for Mitigation and Adaptation to Climate Change 2013-2025 (ENAMMC, 2012) aims to reduce vulnerability to climate change and improve the population's living conditions.
